RFC 0004: Smart Contract Integration

Summary

Define optional smart-contract interfaces for automated settlement and auditability.

Status

Draft

Motivation

Nodes have requested programmable settlement guarantees for cross-node exchanges.

Goals

  • Standardize contract interfaces for LoopCoin settlement.
  • Preserve non-blockchain deployments as first-class.

Non-Goals

  • Mandating a specific blockchain implementation.
  • Replacing existing node-to-node settlement.

Proposal

TBD. This RFC will define contract interfaces, event schemas, and lifecycle hooks.

Backwards Compatibility

Optional feature. Nodes without smart-contract support remain compliant.

Security Considerations

Contracts must be audited and include upgrade and emergency pause mechanisms.

Privacy Considerations

No personal data should be published on-chain.

Alternatives Considered

TBD.

Open Questions

  • Which chain(s) should be considered for reference implementations?
